What to Pack for a Snorkeling Trip
Your upcoming visit to the Hawaiin islands is the trip of a lifetime! While you certainly want to relax, you don’t want to spend the entire trip just laying on the beach. Plan a few activities into your time so you can see the islands, experience the amazing culture, and go home with some great stories. For many, this means a snorkelling trip. Go ahead and get into the water!
Coral Reef Snorkeling offers several amazing snorkelling adventures, like a night snorkel to see the manta rays. We offer the best manta ray snorkel in Kona because ours is a guided tour that takes you offshore and finds their feeding spots. This may sound a little scary, but a manta ray night snorkel in Kona is totally safe and fun. How can we say this? These creatures are very comfortable with snorkelers or divers in the water. This activity has been going on for many decades and they know that we will never harm them. Your boat will leave a sunset so you arrive at the dive site right as the manta rays are active. When you choose the Coral Reef Snorkeling’s manta ray snorkel in Kona you’ll see, experience, and be a part of something amazing! We also offer snorkelling trips to swim with dolphins around the coral reef and several other snorkelling options where you’ll see dolphins and other natural wildlife. You don’t want to make the trip all the way to Hawaii without doing an excursion like this.
Yet, this isn’t something you’ve ever done before so you probably have a lot of questions. One of the most common inquiries that we hear often is “What should I bring?” Snorkelling is swimming with fins, a mask, and a tube called a snorkel that allows you to have your face down in the water and still breathe. Beyond your snorkel for breathing, you’ll also be wearing fins. These fins allow you to swim just like a fish! You’ll also be wearing a mask, which will be connected to the snorkel, so you can see underwater. These items are essential for snorkelling, but you don’t need to bring them. They’ll be provided by us before you get into the water.
There are a few things you’ll need to bring, though. For one, you definitely need to be wearing a bathing suit! You’ll also want to make sure you have plenty of sunscreen, so put some on your skin and bring the bottle along to re-lather yourself. Remember, you are not fully submerged; your back, neck, and legs are out. If you don’t hit these body parts really heavy with sunscreen you’ll be burnt for sure after a few hours in the water. You’ll be enjoying your trip so much you won’t feel how much sun you are getting until afterwards and it’ll be too late to do anything with put aloe on. You may also want to bring an underwater camera to take pictures, as well as snacks and drinks. If you’re worried you may get a little seasick on the boat heading to the dive site, be sure you bring some anti-nausea medicine.
